Well! It's already been over half a year since I posted that last journal, so I might as well update my status.

So yeah...that "11-month" library assignment actually only ended up lasting 3 months and a week because we were being way more productive than they anticipated, so the past three months involved me (trying) to make headway on Intergalactic Fusion. I was wondering what to do for a backup plan in case they couldn't find an assignment for me anytime soon, and soon, I hit upon the idea of learning how to code. I figured, "Man, my boyfriend's already got it made with a full time gig right out of college, and look at me here. Why can't I do it too?" So naturally, being stubborn enough to try again despite failing at Javascript in college (though this was during PMD-E Mission 7 and I was juggling like two comics at once, so maybe not the best example...), I decided to try out the multitude of free resources online that teaches you how to code. Or at least just Codecademy.com and Freecodecamp.com for now.

ALTHOUGH; as it turns out, I'm gonna have to put that on hold for a while or continue that low-key since, well, I finally got a new library assignment! This time around, it should (hopefully!) last at least one year minimum and five years maximum. And that starts on July 12th, so I'll be busy once again.

Though since it really has been a while since I've posted any more of Intergalactic Fusion and I said I'd move it to August (and since it doesn't look like I've won that Scholastic competition...), I'll actually start posting pages then. Even though I've only got like Pages 1-12 done (and 60-71 for the contest, lolololol), I figure, once I catch up to Page 12, I'll just post them on a "whenever I get around to finishing them" basis from then on out. Good thing Book 2 will only be 151 pages this time around, because it still feels like it'll be a challenge to get through them all even more so than usual, hahaha.

I'll also most likely get around to putting Book 1 up for sale soon since, again, I don't think I was one of the winners of that contest. Gonna wait until I build up my funds a little more for that, though. Definitely will let you all know when that happens in a future update.

Anyway, the coding projects I did manage to get done on my own include these cool little one-page interactive things:

Super Wonderful Quiz Show!
Nuke the E's!
A very much WIP portfolio site of sorts

If anyone out there reading this happen to be programmers, definitely feel free to let me know about any additional resources you would recommend. Even though I know a lot more about programming than I ever did before, I'm still very much a beginner at the moment.

Also, totally calling it now: I'm probably gonna be super distracted by Miitopia when it comes out on July 28th. I've been playing the demo and enjoyed it so much that I've already got my entire party planned out and everything. Heck, maybe I might draw a few things from my playthrough if it's hilarious enough. Hehe.

I am a programmer novice but I been playing around in code for beginners every now and then.

I usually look at youtube for tutorial videos. I also look at the comments if I am getting any errors in my code. One of the few times it is useful to look at youtube comments haha.

It is also good to join forums that are specifically for the type of code or engines you are using. Try to be specific when you are asking the questions; tell them what the problem is, show the code you if you have made something (and if you know what lines are causing the problem) and what you are trying to achieve.
