Wow. Just...wow. Where do I even begin? In a way, it feels like this was the goal I'd been aiming towards ever since I even joined #Pokemon-of-Avalon, or at least a few days after I even made Amy. ...Honestly, the whole thing started when I actually saw that the group had actual rules regarding marriage and stuff. %PMD-Explorers didn't, so the thought never even occurred to me back then. Also, most of my characters were either children or already married, and I wasn't interested at all in such things, either. Though of course, it was just a fun possibility instead of any actual goal...that is, until I saw three possible candidates. And one of them actually agreed with the idea!

This was actually the 5th attempt I've made for a character of mine and someone else's to not just become a couple, but get married. The first was Joe and Tori; the second was Ellie and Bandit (which sort of ended before it even began), the third was Ellie and Gabriel/Lucifer, the fourth was Amy and old Ryoshi, and finally, the 5th was Amy and new Ryoshi. While the first was more successful than the second, the fact that PMD-E's plot was too slow, the fact that the group, well, died, and the fact that ~CrimsonAngelofShadow is currently on a very long hiatus all made it so that those won't work out. (Also, the RPs for me were rather...too painful for me to keep going with them.) The third...well, the creator of Gabriel/Lucifer quit dA last week and likely won't ever be coming back. (And I just don't have a very good feeling about that relationship either.) The fourth seemed like it would work, until old Ryoshi's tragic backstory soon became too cruel and painful for me to even think about. And when you start grieving for days on end at not just a character's backstory, but how it would affect their relationship forever and ever, well, then there's a big, big problem!!

So I was seriously super-glad that Cecil would make new Ryoshi with a more realistic, reasonable backstory. Not only did it make Ryoshi much nicer and more respectful to Amy (which greatly increased their compatibility with each other; I don't care what you say, opposites DO NOT attract! All they attract is friction and frustration), it saved me from weeks and weeks and possibly even years of unecessary grief. You could say I'm horrible at RPing if I shy away from interpersonal conflicts in them, and, well, that's why I only ever RP with trusted friends. So it's very important and such a big deal that there's someone out there who respects that about me.

Working with Cecil taught me a whole lot about how collaborations, especially that of the ongoing type, can go. It taught me a lot about speaking up for myself if something bothers me enough for it to be a problem; something I never could get ahold of even in PMD-E. It also taught me that there are still people out there, even if they're very, very few, who are exceptionally reliable at being able to uphold their end of the collab; and that they won't get upset if you want to make a suggestion or talk about something that bothers you. And of course, it made me even stronger in my belief that you should tackle whatever sorts of stories you enjoy the most NO MATTER WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAY about them, as it is only by doing so that you get better at all. I know there might be more challenges ahead, but I also know that there will be many more fun parts too, probably because of the changes that were already made.

Haha, so I guess it really is a brave and foolhardy attempt to try to have your character be in a romance with someone else's character instead of one of your own! And back then, I thought it would be a cool way to have the romance seem more realistic. Oh yes it was. Waaaaaaay more than I expected. ^^; But it just goes to show that it takes all those attempts for you to discover just what your characters need and want, as well as finally succeed in getting all the way to marriage. Now I know why there are a ton of crack pairings, legitimate pairings, and fanmade romances, but very, very few actual marriages.

So in conclusion, I have to thank Cecil for being so understanding and supportive the whole way through, as well as willing to listen and learn about many historical-related facts that I knew that he didn't. Even though he's in his first year of college and I'm in my final year, it makes me happy that I'm able to help teach him about so many things and to help him learn from/avoid the mistakes I'd made in the past in terms of storytelling, characterization, and the overall outlook towards other cultures. And thus, it's only fitting that because this relationship is the only one that actually made it to marriage, it gets the gold treatment in terms of artistic technique and effects, because boy, did this picture take a while to make!

Enjoy!!
