This is my entry for :iconmetroid-club:'s latest contest, Chozo and Luminoth. Check out the entries here: <[link]>.
My first picture of the new year, and I managed to complete it before midnight! :D Cool.

The Chozo are among my most favorite alien species from the Metroid series. They can jump several times their own height and roll into a ball! Even though they can't fly anymore, they're super-intelligent, once spanning the entire galaxy with their civilization. Best of all, they shared their knowledge with other sentient beings and learned to respect and care for life in all its forms.

...But it's too bad you never see a real Chozo in the Metroid games.

Anyway, the inspiration for this picture came from several pictures of them on Wikitroid. I actually don't know what a female Chozo looks like, as they were never depicted in the manga, so I took my best guess. Can you find their distinguishing features?

The most popular styles among the Chozo include the Tarzan Style and the Elder Style. Since they became a peaceful race, the Warrior Style has really fallen out of fashion as of late. However, that ancient style is the basis of Samus' official Power Suit. The male cosplayer is playing as Damos from the movie Arceus and he Jewel of Life, while the female cosplayer is playing as Princess Sakura from the manga series Tsubasa. I thought those outfits (modified somewhat) would look the best on them. And finally, I decided to create a male and female style of my own based on the fashion as a whole.

The elder male is Old Bird, Samus' adoptive grandfather. The male warrior and the Tarzan boy are derived from real Chozo pictures I've found. Everyone else is pretty much original, though. The female warrior was the only one who differed the least from her male counterpart. I decided to give her eye protection, though, just like Samus' visor.

Seeing how well this picture turned out, I think I might try to do something similar for the alien species in my original series sometime in the future. It's fun to depict male and female aliens and their respective wardrobe options!
